Ken K5RG acquired a table for the club at this year’s Greater Houston Hamfest. He, Carl WD5JRD, and W5OC anchored the JSCARC table from Friday afternoon through Saturday. The early opening of the hamfest on Friday afternoon was a new twist this year, with fair attendance but limited sales activity (retirees on limited incomes…). The tailgate was somewhat sparse compared to previous years and overall there seemed to much less boat anchors and estate sale items. Many thanks to both Ken and Carl, who provided the majority of table items as donations from their personal ham inventories. I think Ken will report on the final sales intake during the upcoming JSCARC meeting, but the goal of having visibility as an active club was very successful as we cajoled, pleaded, and made a nuisance of ourselves to all of the hams passing our table. Several club members visited the club table and helped out. Hams spotted were: Jerry N5FWB, David KG5URA, Terry N5LOW, Joe K5KUA, George AD5CQ, Ron KD5JRR, Curtis KI5RHQ, Tom N5LLL. Terry, Joe and Ron left with brand spanking shiny new radios from the HRO vendor table. Thanks again to Ken for organizing the JSCARC presence and a big congrats to BVARC for hosting the event.
