David KB5PGY ran as point guard for this year’s JSCARC booth at the JSC Safety and Health Day held on October 31, 2024.
Our booth was stationed inside Teague Auditorium, protected from the outdoor elements (bugs and heat) while basking in the wonderful indoor Air Conditioning.
This annual event is a serious JSC event, which mandates a center-wide morning standdown of all Civil Servants and contractor employees. During this period, employees and managers participate in re-training activities to reinforce the agency responsibility to keep Safety and Health as a first and foremost priority throughout our work and personal activities.
For the JSCARC, the ham radio hobby portrays safety services through radio communications during disasters and crisis events. This is the messaging our booth advocates during this event.
Our JSCARC hosts interacted with many passing visitors while providing information about the ham radio hobby. ARRL brochure flyers were handed out for those who expressed interests in the hobby and club. Miniature toy Space Shuttle and airplanes were used as souvenir give-aways to delighted visitors. Various radio hardware was on display to demonstrate equipment used in for emergency communications.
The club was well represented with hosting provided by many members including: KB5PGY (Lead), KG5URA, AB4ME, N5FWB, KI5LQT, WD9GET, KG5LJZ, KC1VCT.
