Transmitter Hunt
May 12, 2018 @ 10:30 am - 2:00 pm
Whether you have your license or not, you are invited to the JSC Amateur Radio Club’s first T-Hunt (Transmitter Hunt/Fox Hunt) activity being held on Saturday, May 12th, starting around 10:30am at the JSC Amateur Radio W5RRR shack. Located at the Gilruth Fields Annex, GILRUTH 208 Room 114 (just look for the huge antennas and the doors will be open – you can’t miss us!)
John Maca (AB5SS) will treat us with a lesson on directional finding techniques using our ham radio 2m handheld radios (yes, please bring one, if you have one). If you don’t have one, we’ll pass some extras out.
John has “hidden” a few transmitters close by the Gilruth region and we will use this event to get your feet wet to track them down.
GUARANTEED to be fun and an initial experience to learn about T-Hunting (Transmitter Hunting). We expect to continue additional events throughout the year and the hidden “Foxes” will get progressively farther away and trickier. If you enjoy this type of event, get ready and buckle up your seat belts. It’s a nationwide phenomenon in many places.
Hope you can all make it.
We’ll convene near the shack (GILRUTH 208/114) between 10:30am and 11:00am before beginning the demos and setting you free to track the foxes!
Feel free to bring your friends.
